A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD SETTING THE DATE THE NEWLY ELECTED
COUNCILMEMBER OF WARD 5 WILL TAKE OFFICE
FOLLOWING THE SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD
TUESDAY, JUNE 8, 1993.
WHEREAS, Councilmember Ken Peterson, of Ward 5, was duly
elected to the position of Kern County Supervisor on November 3,
1992; and
WHEREAS, Councilmember Ken Peterson resigned from his
Council position effective January 4, 1993; and
WHEREAS, the city Council felt it would be in the best
interest of the City to conduct a special election to fill the Ward
5 vacancy; and
WHEREAS, the Council adopted Resolution No. 17-93 calling
for the Special Election to be held Tuesday, June 8, 1993; and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk will certify the results of the
election within twenty-eight days following June 8, 1993; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Bakersfield as follows:
1. That upon certification of the election by the City
Clerk, the newly elected Councilmember will take office at the
regular scheduled Council Meeting on July 7, 1993.
