HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 180-92 RESOLUTION NO. 180-92 A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING LOCATION OF THE NATIONAL MUSIC CENTER IN BAKERSFIELD WHEREAS, The National Music Foundation is conducting a search for a site to establish a National Music Center which will include residences for musicians, both active and retired; a hands- on, interactive musical museum; a performing arts center; a library; and WHEREAS, The Arts Council of Kern has submitted an application to the Foundation for consideration of Bakersfield, California as a site for the proposed Center; and WHEREAS, The Foundation has responded that Bakersfield has been designated one of 19 semi-finalists as a possible location for the Center; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows; We hereby support the location of the National Music Center in Bakersfield and encourage the efforts of the Arts Council of Kern to actively attract this Center. We support these efforts to further enhance the cultural, social and economic well being of the citizens of Bakersfield and others who may be attracted to our community by the National Music Center. We encourage the community-wide support necessary for the National Music Foundation to select Bakersfield as the location for this nationally recognized Center. .......... o0o ..........
