RESOLUTION CALLING THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL
ELECTION FOR THE OFFICE OF MAYOR, AND
REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE
COUNTY OF KERN TO ORDER CONSOLIDATION OF SAID
ELECTION WITH THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA GENERAL
ELECTION TO BE HELD TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 1992.
WHEREAS, the State of California General Election will be held
on November 3, 1992; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 67.1(a) of the Charter of the
City of Bakersfield, the General Municipal Election for the Office
of Mayor of the City of Bakersfield for the full term of four (4)
years shall be held concurrently with the State of California
General Election; and
WHEREAS, Section 23302 of the Elections code of the State of
California provides that whenever an election called by a City for
the submission of any proposition or office to be filled is to be
consolidated with a statewide election, and such proposition or
office to be filled is to appear upon the same ballot as that
provided for such statewide election, the City shall at least 88
days prior to the date of the election, file with the Board of
Supervisors, and a copy with the County Clerk, a resolution
requesting such consolidation and setting forth the exact form of
any proposition or office to be voted upon at such election, as the
same are to appear on the ballot; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
Bakersfield as follows:
1. That the General Municipal Election for the Office of
Mayor of the City of Bakersfield for the full term of four years is
hereby called to be held on Tuesday, November 3, 1992, and the list
of candidates for the Office of Mayor are as follows:

Bob Price
Ethel Landers
2. That the Board of Supervisors of the County of Kern
is hereby requested to make an order, pursuant to Sections 23302 et
seq. of the Elections Code of the State of California,
consolidating both the General Municipal Election for the Office of
Mayor, and the State of California General Election.
3. That the polls will be open for the purpose of
holding said elections on said November 3, 1992, between the hours
of 7:00 A.M. and 8:00 P.M.
4. That said Board is further requested to provide that
within the City of Bakersfield, the election precincts, polling
places and voting booths shall, in every case, be the same and
there shall be only one set of election officers in each of the
precincts established in the City for consolidated City elections
and the General Election and the office to be filled shall be as
set forth in each ballot to be used at said elections within the
City of Bakersfield.
5. That said Board of Supervisors of Kern County is
further requested to cause the list of candidates for Mayor of the
City of Bakersfield at said General Municipal Election and
consolidated as requested, within the City, including absent voter
ballots. Said Board is further requested to cause to be set forth
said office on all sample ballots relating to both City elections
called and consolidated, and to mail to the qualified electors
within the City said sample ballots and voter's pamphlets, if any,
relating to said elections, all in the time and in the form
required by law, and to provide absent voter ballots for said
consolidated elections for use by electors of the City of
Bakersfield who may be entitled thereto in the manner provided by
law.
6. That the Board of Supervisors of the County of Kern
is hereby authorized to canvass, or cause to be canvassed, the
returns of said General Municipal Election for Mayor, and are
requested to provide a "Statement of Election Results" to the City
Clerk.
7. That the City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit
and file certified copies of this resolution with the Board of
Supervisors of Kern County and the County Clerk of Kern County, as
required by Section 23302 of the Elections Code of the State of
California.
