HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 21-00RESOLUTION NO. 2 ] "0 0 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE BAKERSFIELD FIRE DEPARTMENT TO ENTER INTO A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE CALIFORNIA OFFICE OF TRAFFIC SAFETY TO PROMOTE TRAFFIC SAFETY. WHEREAS, the State of California, Office of Traffic Safety ("OTS") operates a grant program (Project No. EM0005) wherein federal funds are allocated for public education programs related to traffic safety; and WHEREAS, OTS offers grants to government agencies to implement programs to reduce traffic fatalities, injuries, and economic losses from motor vehicle collisions; and WHEREAS, the Bakersfield Fire Department has requested and has been approved by OTS for a grant in the amount of Sixty One Thousand Nine Hundred Forty ($61,940.00) Dollars; and WHEREAS, the Bakersfield Fire Department will utilize these grant funds to place three new sets of extrication equipment in service and launch a comprehensive public education program emphasizing traffic safety; and WHEREAS, OTS requires the government entity to enter into a project agreement for receipt of the funds as identified herein; and WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield and Bakersfield Fire Department desire to participate in the OTS grant program for the purposes of improving public education as to traffic safety. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows: 1. The above recitals and findings are true and correct. City staff is authorized and directed to execute the grant agreement with OTS for receipt of a grant as aforesaid to launch a comprehensive traffic safety public education program. ..... ooOOOoo .....
