A RESOLUTION CHANGING AND MODIFYING THE DESIGNATIONS
OF EXISTING MAINTENANCE DISTRICTS, RESTRUCTURING
THE EXISTING NUMBERING SYSTEM AND ESTABLISHING
BOUNDARIES OF NEW DISTRICTS.
WHEREAS, there are thirty (30) Maintenance Districts
existing at this time, and more districts will be established with
each new development/subdivision within the City; and
WHEREAS, the administrative and hearing processes
required to annually levy assessments on said districts has become
time intensive and will become more time intensive in the future
under the current designations; and
WHEREAS, changing and modifying the designations of
existing districts, setting new district boundaries and renumbering
existing districts is expected to streamline the administrative
process thereby saving on administration time and realizing a cost
savings to all existing districts uniformly; and
WHEREAS, said change and modification shall not change
the method or fairness of assessment, benefit formula or boundaries
of existing districts.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Bakersfield as follows:
1. The above recitals are found to be true and correct.
2. There shall be five (5) maintenance districts
with boundaries as shown in Exhibit "A" attached hereto
incorporated herein.
and
3. The designation of "District" shall be changed to
"Division" for all existing maintenance districts.
4. Each division within each newly established district
shall be renumbered beginning with the number 1, which will
correspond chronologically with the date of establishment for the
original maintenance districts. (i.e, old district number 16 would
now be District No. 1, Division No. 1, see attached Exhibit "A").
5. The Public Works Director's Report for each new
district shall be adjusted to reflect all changes
modifications.
