A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING SENATE BILL 1100 (BERGESON)
INSTITUTING STATEWIDE TOBACCO CONTROLS AND
OPPOSING SENATE BILL 376 (HILL) WHICH PREEMPTS LOCAL
TOBACCO CONTROLS
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 1100 institutes statewide standards for the
governing the distribution of free samples of cigarettes or smokeless tobacco and the
distribution of vouchers or coupons for free tobacco products,
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 376 would preempt all local smoking ordinances
either projected or considered after July 1, 1991,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of
Bakersfield that SB 1100 as currently constituted is hereby fully supported and that $B
376 as currently constituted is fully opposed.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and
adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting thereof held on
