A RESOLUTION CALLING THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL
ELECTION FOR WARDS 2, 5 AND 6 AND REQUEST-
ING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF TH~ COUNTY
OF KERN TO ORDER THE CONSOLIDATION OF SAID
ELECTION WITH THE STATE OF CALIFOP~NIA
GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY,
N~ER 5, 1991.
WHEREAS, the California General Election will be held on
November 5, 1991; and
WHEREAS, Section 67 of the Charter of the City of
Bakersfield prescribes that a General Municipal Election for
etection of members of the Council shall be held on the first
Tuesday after the first Monday in November in each odd-numbered
year; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVEDby the Council of the City
of Bakersfield as follows:
1. The General Municipal Election for the office of
Councilmember in Wards 2, 5 and 6 of the City of Bakersfield for
the full term of four years is hereby called and ordered
consolidated with the State of California General Election to be
held on Tuesday, November 5, 1991.
2. The Board of Supervisors of the County of Kern is
hereby requested to make an order directing the County Clerk to
consolidate and conduct the General Municipal Election for the
purpose of electing Councilmembers in Wards 2, 5 and 6 to the City
Council of the City' of Bakersfield with the State of California
General Election to be held on Tuesday, November 5, 1991.
3. The County Clerk is hereby authorized and requested
to canvass the returns of said General Municipal Election and to
certify such canvass of the votes so cast, to the City Council.
4. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to
certify the adoption of this resolution, transmit and file a copy
thereof to the County Clerk and to the Board of Supervisors of the
County of Kern.
5. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to
give all Notices and perform all advertising as required by law and
perform or cause to be performed all the duties and functions
required by law.
I HEREBY CERTIFYthat the foregoing Resolution was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on JUN ~ 9 1991 , by
