Richard Gonzalez, our Production Manager, will be in charge of the program and either do the inspections or assign them to a supervisor in the plant. PUMPS- Daily at the time the first mix of paint is ready for the Methonal and Texanol additions, both pumps will be checked to assure that the pump pressure is less than 15 psi. This pressure will continue to be checked before addition to any subsequent batches. Before using, all other pumps will be checked to be sure they are in proper working order. VALVES- All valves in the tank farm area are locked with a padlock in the closed position. The keys' to these locks will be controlled by a supervisor. The lock from a tank will only be removed when the tank is in use. When the tank is no longer in use, the valve will be shut off and the lock will be closed. At the end of each workday all valves will be closed and locked. All other valves will be inspected before use. PIPING- At the time that pumps are brought on line or valves are open, a visual inspection will be made of the piping in that area. Any leaks will be reported to the Production. Manager and.a work order will be made out immediately for repair by the maintenance department. Regardless of usage, weekly the Production Manager will do a walk through checking all piping, pumps and valves. THE VEHICLE (WATER BASED EMULSON) IS PUMPED INTO THE MIX TAN~ THE PIGMENTS, A PORTION OF THE WATER, DlSPERSENTS, SURFACTANTS, AND OTHER ADDITIVES ARE BLENDED UNDER HIGH SPEED AGITATION TO A HOMOGENEOUS MIXTURE. AFTER THIS PROCESS IS FINISHED, ADDING METHANOL, TE~NOL, AND THE REMAINING WATER COMPLETES THE BATCH. IN REFERENCE TO THE TE~NOL AND METHANOL ADDITION, GREAT CARE WILL BE TAKEN TO INTRODUCE THE MATERIAL IN A SAFE MANNER. THE SOLVENTS ARE PUMPED BY AIR PUMPS THROUGH I INCH STEEL PIPE INTO A FLOW METER AND OUT OF THE FLOW METER VIA STEEL PIPE iNTO THE PAINT MIXTURE. THE AIR SUPPLY FOR THE PUMPS IS CONTROLLED BY AN ELECTRIC SOLENOID VALVE WHICH WILL BE ACTIVATED BY A "DEADEN SWITCH" THAT REQUIRES THE OPE~TOR TO HOLD THE SWITCH OPEN DURING THE ENTIRE PUMPING PROCESS. 'ADDITIONALLY THE LINES WILL HAVE A MANUAL VALVE AHEAD OF THE FLOW METER. PLEASE NOTE THE TE~NOL AND METHANOL WILL BE PLUMBED SO THEY CAN USE THE SAME FLOW METER. I HAVE INCLUDED A COUPLE OF ONE PAGE D~WINGS THAT I HOPE WILL HELP EXP~IN OUR INTENTIONS. IF YOU NEED ADDITIONAL INFORMATION, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. REGARD .
