Environmental Health Division 1700 Flower St. Bakersfield, CA 93305 Attention: Mr. Mark Pishinshy Subject: Soils Report and Log for the removal of a 550 gallon underground Gasoline Tank. Gentlemen: Submitted herewith are the soil test results and loggings we did on a 550 gallon gasoline tank on December 23, 1986 on 19th Street, Bakersfield, CA. All tests for contamination were taken at 2' and 6' below the bottom of the tank. There were no product lines involved in this tank removal. (See attached drawing for test locations). The depth to ground water in this area according to the Kern County Water Agency 1984 Water Supply Report is approximately 150'. No perched ground water was encountered at the bottom of the sample hole. The soil samples taken for analysis of contamination were marked and kept in glass containers and taken to B.C. Laboratories, Inc., at 3016 Union Avenue for testing. As shown on the soil test sheets attached small amounts of contamination are present at the 2'-0" level and no contamination is present at the 6'-0" level. The soil log, a drawing showing the tank location and test hole location along with the test results for contamination are attached. i~ conclusion we recommend removing the contaminated soil to a depth of four (4) feet below the bottom of the tank. This soil is to be disposed of in an appropriate method acceptable to the Kern County Health Department. Additional sampling s also be done at this time to ensure that all of the conta~nina~ed soil ha~ removed. ! / ~a~ren~e L.
