project results for the subsurface contamination investigation
conducted at 901 26th Street in Bakersfield, California.
Based upon the findings described in the report, this
department is satisfied that the assessment is complete and no
significant soil contamination resulting from fuel tank leakage
exists at the site.

SOIL SAMPLER' S REPORT
Samples were collected Monday, March 3, 1985, at the job site at 26th street
and P Street in Bakersfield, California.
Three product tanks and. one waste oil tank had been removed frcm the site.
Zalco rm~<)ratories Field Sampler, Lenard Moberg, determined the original level
of soil beneath the tank locations. Overburden soil was moved out of the way
by FH~CO operators. The tank sites were s~npled by bucket auger technique~
and soil 'samples were removed from depths of one foot and three feet below the
original level of the-tanks. Samples were sealed in glass jars and
transported to Zalco 'Laboratories Inc., 4309 Armour Avenue, Bakersfield,
California 93308 for analysis.

Four' feet below tanks Sandy soil
Four feet and greater Sandy gravel

SOIL TESTING REPORT
Site Location: 26th and P Street, Bakersfield, California
Soils sampled at location of underground product tanks. The tanks had been
removed prior to soil sampling by Zalco Laboratories personnel. A "blank"
sample was also collected.
TestS Performed: Fugitive petrOleum products (hydrocarbons, benzene and
toluene, organic lead, total lead.
Test Results: Composited soil samples showed no detectable amounts of
fugitive petroleum product~. Total lead levels w~re well below the predicted
threshold limit concentrations (TTLC) listed in Title 22 Division 4 Section
66699 of the California Administrative Code.

Dear Sir/Madame:
We are applying for a permit to remove'tanks as listed below: ~
1. Onwer: Texaco U. S. A. P. O. Box 3756
Los Angeles, California 90051
2. Plot plan: See attached.
3. Product authorization:
All tanks shall be free of liquid material.
All-vapor will be neutralized with dry ice
as per NFPA-30, and Kern County Fire Depart-
ment regulations.
4. Soil assessment: Zalco Laboratory will
collect and test six (6) soil samples
after tanks have been removed.
5. Tanks and Piping Disposal:
Tanks and piping shall be taken to a
salvage company and cut up and disposal
of for scrap iron. ~(Not to be used for
storage.)

Dear Ms.. Boyce:
Please be advised that Getty Oil Co. wishes to close the motor vehicle fueling station
at 901 26th St., Bakersfield. When the tanks are pulled, they will comply with the
requirements as set forth by your department. A registered geologist will be on site
at the time the tanks are pulled to take samples for organic lead and total hydrocarbon.
Recovery/excavation will proceed based upon the test results.
Your office will be advised at least one day before the tanks are to be pulled.
I there£ore request a letter from your office that can be used to secure a Fire
Department permit to pull the tanks at this location.
