HAZARDOUS MATERIALS MANAGEMENT PLAN
SECTION H. 1 DISCOVERY AND NOTIFICATIONS
A. LEAK DETECTION AND MONITORING PROCEDURES:
No UST's or AST's will be utilized by GI. One 55-gallon drum of virgin motor oil will be stored on site.
The drum is placed upon a spill containment pallet designed to contain the entire contents of the drum in
the event of a leak. The drum is visually inspected weekly for any leaks and documented on an inspection
sheet. GI Trucking has a written "Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasure Plan" to address the
procedures in the event of a spill or release of a hazardous material or waste.
B. EMPLOYEE AND AGENCY NOTIFICATION:
In the event of a spill or release Of a hazardous materials or other emergency the Terminal Manager of the
facility is designated to make the initial decision as to how the situation will be handled. If a spill of
hazardous materials poses an immediate danger to the environment, life, or fire hazardous, the Terminal
Manager will immediately call 911. In addition, the Safety Supervisor of GI Trucking will be
immediately notified. In the case of this facility where only one drum of oil is stored, a minor spill of the
material will be handled in house by the Terminal Manager. If a larger spill occurs an outside
hazardous material clean-up company will be contacted.
C. ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSE MANAGEMENT:
The Terminal Manager of the facility is responsible for notification of the proper authorities in the case of
an emergency of any type. If the Terminal Manager is not available the assistance Terminal Manager
asstunes the responsibility for notification. All incidents relating to hazardous materials, safety, and
health, weather emergency situations or not, are reported to GI Trucking's Safety Supervisor.
D. EMERGENCY MEDICAL PLAN
The Terminal Manager of the facility is responsible for .assessing the medical emergency and taking the
appropriate actions. If the medical emergency is life-threating 911 will be called immediately. In the case
of the use of motor oil at our facility, the exposure to the material may not necessitate immediate medical
care, but could require a visit to a medical facility within a reasonable time frame. All emergency medical
problems weather relating to hazardous materials or not, will be directed to either San Joaquin
Community Hospital or Bakersfield Memorial Hospital. All non-emergency will be directed to Valley
Medical.

SECTION H.2 RELEASE RESPONSE PLAN
A. HAZARD ASSESSMENT AND PREVENTION MEASURES:
The one drum of virgin oil contained at the site is placed upon a spill pallet designed to capture abe
contents in the event of a leaking drum. In addition, the facility maintains a spill kit that includes, but not
limited to, Overpack drums, absorbent, dikes/pillow containments, gloves, goggles, etc
B. RELEASE CONTAINMENT AND/OR MITIGATION
The company has a written "Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasure Plan" to address the procedures
in the event of a spill or release of hazardous materials. In that plan, supervisory, operation, and
employees that handle or use hazardous materials have been trained tO take effective measure in the event
of a major or minor spill. Each terminal has a spill response kit with trained personal capable of acting
quickly to mitigate a release. '~
· C. CLEAN-UP AND RECOVERY PROCEDURES
Based upon the type and volume of material stored at the site (motor oil), all spills would be cleaned up
using a dry absorbent material. The contaminated absorbent material would be deposited into an approved
drum and transported by a licensed hauler to a state approved disposal site. PFR Environmental Services
provides transportation of any drummed hazardous waste GI generated from spills.

SECTION III: TRAINING

BRIEF SUMMARY OF TRAINING PROGRAMS: GI Trucking conducts an employee orientation
and training program which covers vehicle and equipment operations and general safety issues.
Components of the site SPCC Plan are included in the orientation and training programs for all personnel.
All personnel that who handle hazardous materials at the site are trained in accordance with OSHA
requirements as first responder and awareness levels. Training requirements include, but not limited to
any of the following: a) familiarization with the SPCC Plan, b) familiarization with fire and personal
safety as it relates to the products used, c) understanding of hazardous substances, terminology, risks, and
potential outcomes associated with an emergency, d) interpretation and understanding of MSDS, e)
recognition and identification of a hazardous substances that are used on at the site, f) how to perform
basic control and containment operations, g) knowledge of spill notification and response requirements.
All new employees are trained within the first week of employment and annually thereafter.
