A RESOLUTION CO~ENDIN~ THE
BAKERSFIELD COLLEGE DEBATE. TEAM
FOR WINNING THE NATIf~%L DEBATE
CHAMPIONSHIP.
WHE/~EAS, the Mayor and Council of the City of
Bakersfield are proud to recognize outstanding performance among
the citizens of Bakersfield; and
WHERF~%S, the Bakersfield College Debate Team went up
against other community college teams from throughout the United
States, competing in fifteen tournaments in California, Utah and
Arizona; and
WHEREA~, the Bakersfield College Debate Team's record
indicates a phenomenal one hundred twenty-eight wins with only
fifteen losses; and
~, the Bakersfield College Debate Team won the
National Debate Championship, through hard work and persistence;
and
WHEREAS, this award brings special recognition to our
All-America City and the individuals within it.
NOW, T~ffmLEFORE, the Mayor and City Council of the City
of Bakersfield do commend the Bakersfield ColleGe Debate Team and
wish to recognize team members Joe Bensusen, Joe Butkiewics,
Nathan Cathcart, Chuck Dills, Richard Dunn, Bryan Eldredge,
Chrysti Ford, John Ford, Greg Haverstock, Stacey Hudgens, Jason
Lane, Mike Main, Tim Sconlon, Gene Williams, and coaches John
Giertz and Bob Lechtreck, for their efforts in winning the
National Debate Championsb_ip.
