A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD FOR
PARTICIPATION IN THE ICMA
INTERNATIONAL RESOURCE CITIES
PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) in
cooperation with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and
other international agencies established an international partnership program called
International Resource Cities; and
WHEREAS, through the ~nternational Resource Cities program, selected cities in
the United States have been invited to share their local government expertise and
successes with cities in developing countries that are making the transition to democracy;
to provide technical assistance in improving professional municipal management; to
support participatory and inclusive governance; and to improve delivery of public services.
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield has been chosen to participate in this program
to represent the United States by being matched with the City of Rayong located in
Thailand.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD
resolves that the City of Bakersfield is hereby authorized to participate in the International
Resource Cities program, and, by doing so, endorses the efforts to promote world-wide
cooperation to advance public health and welfare.
