HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 66-99(3)RESOLUTION AMENDMENT NO. 3 TO RESOLUTION NO. 66-99 APPROVING MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING FOR EMPLOYEES OF THE BLUE AND WHITE COLLAR UNITS AND ADOPTING SALARY SCHEDULE AND RELATED BENEFITS. WHEREAS, Resolution No. 86-99 sets salaries and related benefits for employees of the Blue and White Collar Units. NOW, THEREFORE, BE iT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield that effective immediately, the Salary Schedule, a part of Resolution No. 66-99, is hereby amended as follows: 1. Resolution No. 66-99 is hereby amended by adding the following class title to the Blue Collar Unit: 13490 A Laborer 7.250 7.613 7.994 8.394 8.814 .......... 000 .......... Under immediate supervision, performs unskilled labor of limited difficulty in the maintenance and improvement of: municipal parks and streetscapes including grounds and City buildings, solid waste, recycling or related areas. Assists, as directed, in performing a wide variety of manual work related to general maintenance activities. Employees in this class are not required to drive commercial vehicles. Performs other work as required. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: In addition to the above, the following typical tasks and responsibilities are representative of the essential duties of the position. They are descriptive, not limiting. Essential Duties: Assists in a wide variety of routine maintenance activities; performs manual labor for extended periods as instructed at all City locations; operates a variety of simple hand tools; may operate landscape maintenance equipment; and drives City vehicles. Assignments are not self-initiated. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: Laborer is an entry-level class in the maintenance series responsible for performing unskilled manual labor. This class is distinguished from Facility Worker in that Laborers require no previous experience and they act as helpers on assignments or projects. Laborers are not required to possess a commercial driver's license. In addition, Laborers are not required to possess technical knowledge of the project or assignment. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of: Simple tools used in maintenance. Ability to: Safely perform a wide variety of manual labor for extended periods of time; follow written and oral instructions; interact courteously with the public and other City staff. Training, and Experience: No previous training or experience required. Licenses and Certificates: Possession of a valid Class "C" California driver's license. Physical Requirements: Must possess sufficient strength and stamina to lift and remove objects weighing up to 50-80 pounds, depending on job assignment. Must be willing to work outdoors in alt weather conditions, from heights and with exposure to unpleasant and potentially hazardous conditions. Must be able to stand and walk on uneven surfaces for extended periods of time. May be required to work nights, weekends and holidays.
