A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE USE OF CREDIT
CARDS FOR PAYMENT OF FEES CHARGED BY
DEPARTMENTS/DIVISIONS OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD
WHEREAS, California Government Code section 6159 authorizes a city, upon
approval of its City Council, to accept credit card payment for services rendered by any city
agency or the payment of any fee due a city; and
WHEREAS, several Departments/Divisions of the City of Bakersfield desire to
accept credit cards as an option for payment of fees; and
WHEREAS, acceptance of credit card payments for services provided and fees
charged by the City will provide greater convenience to the public; and
WHEREAS, the program for acceptance of credit card payments will be
administered by the Office of the City Manager,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD AS FOLLOWS:
1. Subject to prior joint approval by the City Manager and the Finance Director,
each Department/Division of the City of Bakersfield is authorized by the City Council to
accept credit card payments for services provided and fees charged as permitted by
California Government Code section 6159, as amended from time to time.
2. All Departments/Divisions of the City of Bakersfield are authorized to impose
a fee for the use of a credit card as permitted by Government Code section 6159(f), not to
exceed the costs incurred by the Department in providing for payment by credit card as
provided in Chapter 3,70 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code.
3. The Office of the City Manager is authorized to promulgate regulations to
administer this program to enhance the public convenience.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by the
