Brundage Lane, Bakersfield, CA (Exhibit 1). The underground storage tanks were removed under permits issued by the City of Bakersfield Fire Department - Hazardous Materials Division (Permit #BR-0174). A copy of the permit is included in Appendix A. The tanks were located north of the existing building (Exhibit 2). Mr. Howard Wines of the City of Bakersfield Fire Department was present to observe the tank removals and the collection of soil samples. SCOPE Q_F WORK Global International was contracted to remove three (3) underground fuel storage tanks, the associated dispensers and piping. Prior to the tanks being steam cleaned, Nikolaus Tank~ Inc. was contracted to pump out and remove unused fuel, approximat~.75~allons, remaining in the tanks and then transported to Kern Oil & Refi~ih'gVC-'b.. in Bakersfield for recycling. A copy of the transportation receipt and weighmaster certificate are attached in Appendix A. The tanks were steam cleaned and triple-rinsed by MP Environmental Services, Inc., prior to the removals. Approximately 1,800 gallons of rinseate was removed by MP Environmental Services and transported under NON-RCRA Uniform Hazardous Waste Manifest to Crosby & Overton of Long Beach. A copy of the Waste Manifests are attached in Appendix A. The underground fuel storage tanks were filled with dry ice at a rate of 20 pounds per 1,000 gallons to inert each tank of oxygen. A copy of the receipts for the purchase of 900 pounds of dry ice are included in Appendix A. (Please Note: 1,200 pounds of dry ice was actually used; however, one receipt was misplaced). The tanks, which were constructed of steel, were removed by Global International and were transported by Asbury Transport of Bakersfield to Golden State Metals in Bakersfield for final tank disposal and destruction. Copies of the Underground · Storage Tank Decontamination Certification, Weighmaster Certificate, and Tank Disposal Form are included in Appendix A. After the tanks were removed, AGI collected a total of nineteen (19) soil samples, two (2) soil samples at 2 and 6 feet below ground surface (bgs) from beneath the north and south ends of each 5,000 gallon,.o_,gasoline tank and two (2) samples at 2 and 6 feet bgs beneath each fuel dispenser. ':'~' '~";.-' Samples were Collected by Halcyon LaboratOries from the backhoe bucket in three inch stainless steel sleeves, capped, sealed, labeled in accordance with EPA protocols," recorded on a Chain-of-Custody document, stored in an iced cooler at 4© centigrade or less, and transported to Halcyon Laboratories, California State Certified Laboratories. '~In accordance with City of Bakersfield guidelines, the soil samples collected were analyzed for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH) as gasoline and volatile aromatics (BTEX) using DOHS/EPA Methods. 5030/8015 modified, 8020, respectively. , - Laboratory results indicated non-detect concentrations for all samples analyzed for Total Petipleum Hydrocarbons as gasoline and BTEX. Copies of the laboratory report and Chain-of-Custody are attached as Appendix B, CONCLUSION Based on these analytical results, it is AquaGeosciences, Inc.'s opinion that no further subsurface..investigation is required.
