AutoZoners a safe workplace, and customers a safb place to shop. The AutoZone SafEty
Specialist Program, a program in which each AutoZoner is trained on the AutoZone commitment
to safety policies and programs best illustrates this commitment. All AutoZoners receive specific
training in hazard communications, satEty equipment, safety situations, sat'~ lifting techniques,
first aid and emergency procedures. This training not only tbcuses on personal protection, it also
· provides each AutoZoner with the knowledge and motivation to extend safety throughout the
entire store and parking lot. This training is specifically covered in the AutoZone Sa. lbO,
Specialist Program. along with satEty procedures to protect AutoZoners and customers in case of
fire or inclement weather.
This Environmental Business Plan is a very important part of AutoZone's SafEty program.
AutoZonc's commitment to customer satisfaction includes taking care of the environment by
responsibly handling chemicals wc handle on a day~to-day basis. AutoZone Sal'Ety has carefully
cvaluated thc fire and health risks associated with each chemical product. We also keep
inventory to make sure we comply with f'ederai and local fire code and environmental standards
regarding thc retail prescntation, storage, and distribution of those chemical products. As

instructions, and we demonstrate our commitment to environmental stewardship to our
customers every day. AutoZonc has assembled safety intbrmation sources including Infotrac,
and has staged safety and spill response equipment at each store to assure that we can safely
respond to chemical emergencies. The tbllowing Environmental Business Plan provides
AutoZone policies and guidelines tbr chemical handling and procedures for chemical
emergencies including spills and releases.

CHEMICAL SPILL PROCEDURES
in the event ora chemical spill, quickly notify the Store Manager. The Store Manager will
notify all AutoZoners and customers in the store and, if necessary, instruct them to evacuate the
store and go to the designated emergency assembly area.
To determine if an evacuation is necessary, the Store Manager will:

PREPAREDNESS
Employee Training
All AutoZoners participate in the AtttoZott¢ Sq/~,I.l' Spr,cialist Program. They're trained in
AutoZone's commitment to safi2ty, safety policies, and programs. Each Autozoner receives
specific training in hazard communication, sat%ty equipment, safisty situations, sate lifting
techniques, first-aid, and emergency procedures. The AutoZone Sa./bt.v Specialist manual which
includes AutoZone's written satiety programs and policies, is kept in each store. Each AutoZoner
certified under the program is recognized on a plaque located in the store.
Contracted Emergency Support Services
AutoZone has contracted the fbllowing services:

infotrac has all AutoZone product MSDS's on file. lnfbtrac will provide first aid procedures,
provide information to medical personnel on the scene, provide information on evacuation
radius, personal protective equipment, and fire-fighting procedures. They'll also contact the
Store Support Ccntcr to report the situation.
First Recovery
AutoZonc has contracted First Rccovery to pick up all of its used oil.
Ashland Chemical Environmental Services
AutoZone uses Ashland Chemical fbr most chemical disposal services.
Johnson Controls
AutoZone has contracted Johnson Controls to provide int~,rmation on the proper disposal of
used batteries.

( MITIGA TION/PRE VENTION
Procedures tbr preventing a hazardous material release or spill.
All AutoZoners participate in the AutoZone Emergency Action Plans and SqfbO'
S[IecialL¥1 ]~rogratn, which includes training specific to handling emergencies including
evacuation procedures and the emergency assembly area, fire alarms, fire extinguishers,
first aid kits, spill clean up, and spill response equipment.
AutoZone has developed and implemented the elements of the "AutoZone Guide./br
Accepting Used Oil."
When products are delivered to the store the containers will be inspected tbr leaks.
The store's retail cbcrnicals and used oil tank will periodically be inspected tbr leaks.
All waste oil will be inspected BEFORE being placed in the waste oil tank. All waste oil
will be clearly labeled "Waste Oil."
All batteries will be inspected t-bt leaks BEFORE being placed in the battery storage area.
Waste oil tanks/drums will be an 85-gallon steel drum with a 55-gallon liner OR an
aboveground double-walled storage tank with a capacity of 185 gallons.
