Our hazard evaluation is based on information from similar prdoucts, the ingredients, technical literature, and/or professional experience. Petroleum-derived solvents of the type present in this product have produced a weak response consisting of tumors in a small percentage of mice that had a large amount of solvent applied to their skin for their lifetime~ In those studies, the skin of the mice Was never washed. The high dose levels and life- time duration of exposure that induced this weak response in the animal studies do not reflect anticipated human exposure. Therefore, it if our opinion that' this product does not present a human health'risk if the personal protection and hygiene recommendations regarding skin contact presented in other sections of this data sheet are followed. This product contains xylene..Overexposure to xylene can cause irritation, narcosis, headache, fatigue, irritability, and gastrointestinal disturbances. Some liver damage and lung inflammation were seen in chronic studies in guinea pigs but not in rats. In rat reproduction studies, xylenes were not teratogenic but were embryotoxic when maternal toxicity was produced. In a mouse study, xylenes were found teratogenic at doses approaching lethal levels. Aspiration of this product into the l~ngs can cause chemical pneumonia and can. be fatal. Aspiration into the lungs can occur while vomiting after ingestion of this product. . Exposure to this product can cause respiratory tract irritation, central ner- vous system depression in high concentrations and/or nausea and vomiting.
