A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BAKERSFIELD SUPPORTING A
SISTER CITY PROGRAM BETW~-~ THE
RUSSIAN REPUBLIC CITY OF TULA AND
THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD.
WI{EREAS, the Bakersfield Sister City Corporation has
voted unanimously to work toward forming a sister city program
with Tula, a city in the Russian Republic; and
WHEREAS, civic leaders in Tula are eager to enter into
a sister city relationship with Bakersfield; and
WHEREAS, .sister city programs are of immense importance
in creating bonds of understanding between countries.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the
City of Bakersfield as follows:
The City of Bakersfield supports the formation of a
sister city program with the city of Tula, in the Russian
Republic, and pledges its cooperation in collecting and filing
with Sister City International/Department of State all necessary
documents to bring about the new Sister City relationship.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a
regular meeting thereof held on $EP 1 9 ]990 , by the
