HomeMy WebLinkAboutHAZARDOUS WASTE OFFICE MEMO HMMP - ENFORCEMENT TO: Chris Burger DATE: 4/23/91 SUBJECT: Review of C~~a Grade Burn Dump In reviewing the subject dump's lab results, the following' are my comments: 1 . The sampling locations were not provided. However, assuming the sampling plan (including sampling procedure, location of samples, sample preservation: etc) is acceptable, additional testing (WET test) may still be necessary. Four of the eleven samples exceeded 10 times the STLC of lead; three exceeded 10 times the STLC of copper and zinc; one sample exceeded 10 times the STLC of cadmium. 2. Three samples exceeded the TTLC of lead and two samples e?:ceeded the TTLC of zinc. A statistical analysis was performed and tentatively these chemicals are not present in hazardous concentrations based on the TTLC criteria. The statistical analysis was based on random sampling. Chemicals such as Calcium, Potassium, Sodium, Aluminum were present in significant levels. Standards for these chemicals are not available, therefore the effects making the soil hazardous cannot be evaluated without testing' for the hazardous waste criterias (toxicity, reactivity, etc ) . 4. The recovery on some of ~he 8270 compounds was low. 5. The units used in reporting the metal concentrations are mg/k~ wet. The above comments did not adjust tl~e lab results to any dilution factor.
