HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 102-90RESOLUTION NO. 102-90 A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD CALLING A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE ELECTORS OF THE CITY AN AMENDMENT TO SECTION 2.68.010 OF THE BAKERSFIELD MUNICIPAL CODE, AND PROVIDING FOR THE CONSOLIDATION OF SAID SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION WITH THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA GENERAL ELECTION, ALL TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 1990, AND REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF KERN TO ORDER THE CONSOLIDATION OF SAID ELECTIONS. WHEREAS, a General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 1990; and WHEREAS, it is desired that a Special Municipal Election for the purpose of submitting to the electors of the City an amendment to Section 2.68.010 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code be consolidated with that State of California General Election to be conducted by the County; and WHEREAS, through said election hereby called, the Council of the City of Bakersfield proposes to submit an amendment to the Bakersfield Municipal Code in the manner set forth in City Charter Section 18, at that General Election as aforesaid; and WHEREAS, the Amendment to the Bakersfield Municipal Code so proposed to be submitted is as follows: CITY OF BAKERSFIELD REFERENDUM Shall Section 2.68.010 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code be amended to increase, for the first time since 1956, the salary of Bakersfield City Councilmembers to $700.00 per month? NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows: 1. That the Special Municipal Election is hereby called to be held in the City of Bakersfield on Tuesday, the 6th day of November, 1990, for the purpose of submitting to the electors of said City the foregoing Amendment to the Bakersfield Municipal Code. 2. That the above-stated measure to amend the Bakersfield Municipal Code is hereby submitted for placement on the ballot in proper form to be used at said election. 3. That t~e election hereby called, to wit, the Special Municipal Election for the purpose of submitting to the electors of the City of Bakersfield the above-specified amendment to the Bakersfield Municipal Code, is hereby ordered consolidated with the State of California General Election to be conducted by the County on Tuesday, November 6, 1990. 4. That the polls shall be open in all precincts in the City from 7:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. 5. That the City Clerk shall give all notices and per- form all advertising as required by law and perform or cause to be performed all the duties and functions required by law for revi- sion of the Bakersfield Municipal Code. .......... o0o .......... - 2 - I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting thereof held on July 25, 1990 , by the following vote: AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: EDWARDS, DeMONU.
