HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 98-90RESOLUTION NO. 98-90 A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF T~E CITY OF BAKERSFIELD CHANGING THE NAME OF A PUBLIC ST~RRT FRO~ SOUTH "O" STREET TO "PRISCILLA WAY" LOCATED WEST OF SOUTH "P" STREET NORTH OF TERRACE WAY IN THE CITY OF BAKERSFIR?.~. WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Bakersfield, in accordance with the provisions of Sections of CEQA Guidelines 15062 and 34091.1 of the Government Code of California, held a public hearing on April 5, 1990, on the proposed renaming of the existing South "O" Street to "Priscilla Way". Notice of the time and place of that hearing having been given at least ten (10) calendar days before said hearing by publication in the Bakersfield Californian, a local newspaper of general circulation; and WHEREAS, the proposal is further described as follows: RENAME A PORTION OF SOUTH "O" STREET TO PRISCILLA WAY To adapt to the wishes of property owners and to retain certain approved addresses in the area, the City of Bakersfield proposes to rename that portion of existing South "O" Street west of South "P" Street, north of Terrace Way ~%ich is located and to retain the number range as a north- south street. WHEREAS, that portion to be renamed is located west of South "P" Street north of Terrace Way in the City of Bakersfield; and WHEREAS, the above rename was determined not to be a project as defined by California Envirormlental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines (Section 15378) and is therefore exempt from the requirements of CEQA; and WHEP~EAS, the Planning Commission, on April 5, Resolution No. 20-90, recommending approval of the based on the following findings: 1990 adopted name change, The proposal will rename that portion of existing South "O" Street west of South "P" Street, north of Terrace Way and retain the number range as a north-south street. 1 ORIGINAL 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. The name change is supported by major property owners. The name change will accommodate most city-approved addresses in the area. The renaming will improve the efficiency of the 911 Emergency Response System in the area. The proposal is a ministerial project exempted from the requirements of CEQA Guidelines (§15268). The renaming will not have any significant fiscal impact on affected property owners or tenants. Approval of the project will not have any significant fiscal impact to affected property owners or tenants. No public comments or objections were received during the public hearing before the Planning Commission. WX{ERF_~%S, the municipal code relating to the change of existing street name and its adoption as set forth in the City of Bakersfield Municipal Code Section 16.28.130 have been duly followed by the City staff and the Planning Commission; and NOW, T~EREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows: That portion of South "o" Street west of South "P" Street north of Terrace Way shall be renamed "Priscilla Way" and shall retain the number range as a north-south street.
