Subject: Bi-annual SVES/AS and Liquid-Phase Hydrocarbon Operations and Maintenance
Report for January through June 1998
Sunland Oil Refinery
2152 Coffee Road Bakersfield, California
SJVUAPCD Authority To Construct Permit No. S-207-42-2
Dear Mr. Hundley:
Enclosed please find the soil vapor extraction system (SVES), air sparging (AS), and liquid-phase
hydrocarbon recovery report for the first half of 1998 (January 1 through June 30). Included with the
report is a site location map, site maps depicting well locations and system piping layout, a graph of
cumulative pounds of hydrocarbons removed versus time, a summary of operational data for the
reporting period (Tables 1 through 9), waste disposal documentation, and laboratory analytical reports
and Chains-of-Custody.
During the reporting period, all operations were performed in accordance with the requirements outlined
in the permit. During the reporting period, approximately 130,654 pounds of hydrocarbons were
removed via vapor extraction. Remediation via vapor extraction accounts for a cumulative total of
342,219 pounds of hydrocarbons removed to date.
During the reporting period, liquid-phase hydrocarbon (LPH) recovery pumps in wells MW-7 and SE-
SVE-42 removed approximately 116 gallons of LPH. In addition, two gallons of LPH were removed
during LPH bailing. The total amount of LPH removed (including hand bailing) since December 1996 is
approximately 466 gallons.
Should you have any questions or need additional information, please do not hesitate to contact either of
the undersigned at (805) 230-1266.
Respectfully submitted,
SECOR International Incorporated
