A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD DKT~*MINING THAT M~'£~.NOL FUEL
FLEXIBLE VEHICLES CAN BE REASONABLY OBTAINED
PROM ONE VENDOR, THE STATE OF CALIFOI~IA, AND
AUTHORIZING THE FINANCE DIRECTOR TO DISPENSE
WITH BIDDING THEREFOR, NOT TO EXC~n $73,000;
AND APPROVING AC4~R~m~ENTWITH'£~u~ STATE OF
CALIFORNIA, AND AUTHORIZING '£~n~MAYORTO
EXECbT~.
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield desires to participate
in the California Energy Commission's light duty methanol fuel
flexible vehicle demonstration program; and
W~R. WEAS, the City's participation in this program
includes the purchase of four flexible fuel sedans; and
WHEREAS, the Finance Director has determined and has
recommended that this Council find, that methanol fuel flexible
vehicles can be reasonably obtained from only one vendor and has
recommended that this Council authorize dispensing with bidding
therefor in accordance with Section 3.20.060 B. of the
Bakersfield Municipal Code.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the
City of Bakersfield as follows:
1. That the Council hereby finds that methanol fuel
flexible vehicles can be reasonably obtained from only one
vendor, because it is the only vendor available which best meets
the City's needs, to wit: the State of California, and
authorizes the Finance Director to dispense with bidding therefor
and to negotiate the purchase of same from such vendor.
2. That the Council hereby authorizes the Office of
Procurement, Department of General Services of the State of
California to purchase four flexible fuel vehicles for and on the
behalf of the City pursuant to Section 14814, Government Code,
and that the Finance Director is hereby authorized and directed
to sign and deliver all necessary requests and other documents in
connection therewith for and on behalf of the City of
Bakersfield.
3. That the City shall enter into a contract with the
State of California, and the Mayor is hereby authorized to
execute said agreement.
