A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE
SUBMITFAL OF APPLICATIONS TO RECEIVE
GRANT FUNDING FROM THE U.S.
DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE L.L.E.B.G.
PROGRAM FOR FISCAL YEARS 2004-05
THROUGH 2009-10.
WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Justice administers the continuing Local Law
Enforcement Block Grants (L.L.E.B.G.) Program to provide funds to units of local
government to underwrite projects to reduce crime and improve public safety; and
WHEREAS, the United States Congress has authorized the continuation of the
L. L. E.13. G. program per statute: "Fiscal Year 2002, Department of Commerce, Justice, and
State, the Judiciary, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act (Pub. L. No. 107-77)"; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Bakersfield
authorizes the submittal of grant applications to the U.S. Department of Justice L.L.E.B.G.
Program for the period of six years.
NOW, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Manager, or his/her designee, is
hereby authorized and empowered to execute in the name of the City of Bakersfield, all
necessary applications, contracts, payment requests, agreements and amendments hereto
for the purpose of securing grant funds and to implement and carry out the purposes
specified in the grant application.
