SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES OF EMPLOYEES: Jim Blacow, our inventory manager, is responsible for notifying authorities,, clean-up companies, etc. If one of the parts personnel discovers a spill, he is to notify the parts manager. The parts manager will then in turn notify the proper agencies and the general manager of the company~ EMERGENCY MEDICALPLAN D. CLOSESTLOCALMEDICALFACILITY: Kern Medical Center is the closest local medical facility to our location. Any and all. employees who may have come in contact with hazardous material(s) and need medical attention will be directed to this facility. The intercom and fire detection systems will be utilized to notify on-site personnel. Persons detecting a fire or hazardous situation are (OVE~) instructed to sound and/or notify supervisoWor administrative ~ personnel. Jim Blacow, our inventory manager, is responsible for calling emergency services and initiating evacuation procedures. The service department foreman, Lonney Pumphrey, is responsible in accounting fOr all service department personnel. The general manager or manager in charge is responsible for coordinating all personnel to specified assembly area. The general manager or manager in charge, is the only person authorized to grant re-entry to the facility. Tihe general manager or manager in charge shall brief emergency personnel of the situation and communicate further evacuation procedures. The primary route for evacuation is to exit all buildings in a southernly direction. Shop personnel use west building exit and proceed south to Gateway avenue. Parts personnel exit east and proceed south to Gateway avenue. The secondary evacuation route is~ to exit all buildings in the safest manner and proceed directly south and assemble in front of the building. HAZARDOUS MATERIALS MANAGEMENT PLAN Section 11.2 - RELEASE RESPONSE PLAN *. PRELiMiNARY ASSESSMENT .- A. HAZARD ASSESSMENTAND PREVENTION MEASURES: Prevention measures consist of the use~ or users implementing the provided safety equipment such as eye glasses, apron and rubber gloves. Compressed gas cylinders are strapped into portable carts or chained to wall supports and stored away from flammable substances. Full cylinders are stored with safety caps and labeled "full cylinder". B. RELEASE CONTAINMENTANDMITIGATION: Sulfuric acid is contained on the premisis including secondary containment. Petroleum hydrocarbons are stored and handled in original or approved containers only to prevent spills. Spill, leak and disposal procedures will follow MSDS instructions provided f~or each substance. FOLLOW-UP ACTIONS C. CLEAN-UPANDRECOVERYPROCEDURES: Asorbant diatomite granules are used to minimize and contain spills. Lime is utilized as a nuetralizer in the event a sulfuric acid spill should occur. Location of fire extinguishers comprise fire prevention program. Shower and wash stations are located in immediate proximity of sulfuric acid container. Emergency agencies are immediately notified for containment and disposal. BRIEF SUMMARY OF TRAINING PROGRAM: Training is held periodically throughout the year including, but not limited to, all aspects of safety measures ranging from house keeping to hazardous materials. Training is scheduled through South Kern Machinery and given by our company's loss control consultant at State Compensation Insurance Fund.
