Subject:
UNDERGROUND TANK REMO~;AL AT 1200 GOLDEN STATE AVENUE,
BAKERSFIELD
Dear Mr. Wood:
On December llth, in accordance with Kern County Permit No. A334-
06, our firm removed one (1) 10,000 gallon underground tank from
the subject location. Four (4) soils samples were taken
altogether. Two (2) samples were taken at both the southern and
northern ends of the excavation, one each at two feet and six
feet. The samples were taken in pre-cleaned glass jars, covered
with teflon lids, placed in an ice-filled chest and taken on
December 12th to Certified Testing Laboratories in South Gate.
(See enclosed Chain of Custody record.) The laboratory results
show no contamination. (See enclosed report.) The removed tanks
were loaded onto a truck owned and operated by National Metal &
Steel Corporation, transported to the Ontario faci-lity and
completely destroyed for scrap. (See enclosed letter.)
At your request, we are sending a copy of this report to Janis
Lehman of the Kern County Health Department. This department
will review the data and advise us of any additional effort
required. However, based on the facts contained herein, we
recommend that the excavation be backfilled and the area repaved.
