The excavation operation is scheduled to begin at 8:00 AM, Tuesday, November 14, 1995. Because of gasoline release from a leaky automobile fuel tank inside the house garage at the above referenced site, gasoline fuel spilled on the concrete floor. The concrete floor was later removed and soil samples were collected from the soil underneath to investigate the possibility of soil being impacted by gasoline. Laboratory results of the soil samples indicated that the largest concentration of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Gasoline (TPH-G) at depths of 1, and 1.5 feet below ground surface (bgs), were 1,543.5, and 14 ppm, respectively. The lateral extent of gasoline-impacted soil was estimated at approximately 590 square feet. City of Bakersfield November 9, 1995 Page 2 of 2 Projectl No. 1229-95 Based on the available information on the level and extent of gasoline in the impacted soil, h¥clrologuo will perform the following tasks to mitigate the soil contamination. The impacted area will be excavated and transported to an authorized treatment facility for remediation and disposal. Soil samples will be collected from the bottom of the excavation site to assess the successful completion of soil excavation. The excavated area will be backfilled with clean soil, and compacted. The backfilled area will then be covered with concrete, finished, and graded to match the existing concrete slab. Upon completion of all remedial activities, h¥cirologuo will prepare a report containing necessary information regarding the remedial operation.
