1. THE WORK EMBRACED HEREIN SHALL BE DONE IN ACCORDANCE WITH 'HIE APPROPRIATE
PROVISIONS OF THE SPECIFICATIONS ENTITLED CITY OF BAKERSFLELD, STANDARD
SPECIFICATIONS, REVISED INSOFAR AS THE SANE HAY APPLY, WiIICH SPECIFICATIONS
HEREINAFTER ARE REFERRED TO AS THE STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS.
Z. THE SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM AND HOUSE CONNECTIONS TOGETIIER WITH WATER HAIN,
GAS MAINS AND THEIR RESPECTIVE SERVICE CONNECTIONS SHALL BE COMPLETED IN
THE STREET BEFORE COMPLETIONS OF THE STREET SURFACING.
3. INSTALL SIDEWALKS, CURBS AND GUTTERS AS PER STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS AND
IN ACCORDANCE WITH DETAILS ON THESE DRAWINGS. CURBS AND GUTTERS SHALL BE
CONSTRUCTED BEFORE PLACING THE STREET SURFACING AND BASE COURSE.
~. PERMITS MUST BE OBTAINED AND FEES PAID IN ACCORDANCE WITH ORDINANCES OF
THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD.
$. ALL STREETS SHALL BE SURFACED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THIS PLAN AND THE FOLL-
OWING SPECIFICATIONS:
a) 6-INCH SUB-GRADE AND ALL FILL IN EXCESS OF 6INCHES WILL BE COMPACTED
IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORT-
ATION, SECTION 19 OF STANDARD SPECIFICATION DATED JANUARY 1981.
b) AGGREGATE BASE SHALL CONFORM TO AND BE PLACED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
STATE OF CALIFORNIA,.DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, SECTION 26 OF STAN-
DARD SPECSFICATIONS DATED JANUARY 1981:
c) ASPHALT CONCRETE SURFACING SHALL BE ~YPE B WITH 3/4 - INCH MAXIMUM-
MEDIUM AGGREGATE USING AR 4000 PENETRATION ASPHALT,
CONFORMING TO AND PLACED IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION,
SECTION ~9 OF STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS DATED JANUARY 1981.
6. THE TRANSITION BETWEEN THE EDGE AND END OF THE REQUIRED STREET SURFACING
AND THE EXISTING SURFACING OR GROUND SHALL NOT HAVE A SLOPE STEEPER THAN
5%.
7. TRAFFIC REQUIRE/4ENTS:
a) ALL SIGNING, DETOURINGi AND BARRICADING SHALL CONFORM TO THE MANUAL
OF TRAFFIC CONTROLS DATED 1977, ISSUED BY THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA,
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTION.
b) ALL SIGNS SHALL BE REFLECTORIZED FOR NIGHT TIME VISIBILITY.
c) HIGH LEVEL WARNING DEVICES SHALL BE USED ON ALL APPROACHES TO THE
CONSTRUCTION AREA.
d) ONE TWELVE-FOOT DRIVING LANE MUST BE MA!NTAJNED IN EACH DIRECTION AT
ALL TIMES.
e) NO PI~BLIC STREET SHALL BE CLOSED WITHOUT PRIOR APPROVAL FROM THE CITY
TRAFFIC ENGINEER.
£) STREET WORK PERMITS ISSUED TO ALLOW WORK IN THE PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY
SHALL BE REVOKED IF THE ABOVE REQUIREMENTS OF SUBPARAGRAPHS A THOUGH
E ARE NOT STRINGENTLY COMPLIED WITH BY THE DEVELOPER'S FORCES DURING
OFF-SITE STREET IMPROVEMENT CONSTRUCTION OPERATIONS. REVOKED PERMITS
SHALL NOT BE RE-ISSUED UNTIL SUCH TIME AS THE PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR
IS SATISFIED THAT THE DEVELOPER'S CONTRACTORS WILL PERFORM THEIR
OPERATIONS IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE ABOVE REQUIREMENTS, INCLUDING THE
CONDITIONS OF THE STREET WORK PERMITS..
8. EXISTING PAVEMENT SHALL NOT BE REMOVED UNTIL SUCH TIME AS ALL UTILITIES
ARE COMPLETE AND PAVING CONTRACTOR IS READY TO REPAIR WITHIN 5 DAYS..
9. CONSTRUCT WHEELCHAIR RAMPS AND FINISH RAMP SURFACE AS DIRECTED BY THE
ENGINEER.
10. AT LEAST 24 HOURS PRIOR TO START OF CONSTRUCTION THE CONTRACTOR IS TO NOTIFY
THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD FOR INSPECTION AND TESTING.
1. ALL IMPROVEMENTS SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH KERN COUNTY SUBDIVISION.
STANDARDS, AND OTHER COUNTY ADOPTED POLICY. STREET IMPROVEMENTS SHALL

2. IMPROVEMENTS SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH STATE OF CALIFORNIA BUSINESS
AND TRANSPORTATION AGENCY DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION STANDARD
SPECIFICATIONS, JANUARY 1984 AS MODIFIED AND DETERMINED APPLICABLE
BY THE KERN COUNTY ROAD ~"0{~ISSIONER AND DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS.
~. ANY WORK WHICH AFFECTS ANY EXISTING COUNTY MAINTAINED ROAD OR TRAFFIC
THEREON SHALL BE COMPLETED WITHIN 20 WORKING DAYS FROM START OF WORK.
4. ELEVATIONS AND GRADES SHOMN ON THE PROFILES ARE GUTTER FLOW LINES
(INVERTS).
5. ON LOCAL STREETS, CROWN HEIGHT SHALL BE 6" ABOVE HIGHEST GUTTER.
MAXIMUM CROSS FALL BETWEEN GUTTER SHALL BE 6".
6. PORTLAND CEMENT CONCRETE SHALL BE CLASS B UNLESS OTHERWISE INDICATED.
7. INSTALL PERMANENT TRAFFIC CONTROL SIGNING AND OTHER SAFETY DEVICES
(NOT SHOWN ON THESE PLANS) TO MEET WITH THE APPROVAL OF THE KERN
COUNTY ROAD COMMISSIONER.
8. PRIOR TO START OF ANY EARTHWORK, suBDIVIDER SHALL OBTAIN A GR~ING
PERMIT AS REQUIRED BY COUNTY ADOPTED (MODIFIED) CHAPTER 70 OF U.B.C.
AND GRADING ORDINAI~CE.

ALL EXISTING FACILITIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO STRUCTURES,
POLES, PIPELINES, CONDUITS, CANALS, AND APPURTENANCES, WHICH ARE
CONSIDERED TO BE OBSTRUCTIONS SHALL BE RELOCATED AT THE EXPENSE
OF THE SUBDIVIDER.
Relative compaction of not less than 95% shall be obtained for
a minimum depth of 0.5 feet below grading p]ane for the entire
width of pavement (]ip of gutter to lip of gutter). In
addition, re]ative compaction of not less than 95~ shall be
obtained for a minimun depth of 1.0 foot below finish grade on
local streets (1.5' or 2.0' as directed by Road Commissioner
on major and secondary roadways) for the width of the traveled
way plus 3 feet on each side.
Example: Traveled way on local street is 12' each side of
centerline, therefore width for 1' depth is 12' + 3' + 12' +
3' = 30'.
Asphalt rejuvenating agent shall be applied to new asphalt
concrete pavement in accordance with the provisions for fog
seal in Section 37, Bituminus Seals, of the State Department
of Transportation Standard Specifications, current edition,
and the State Department of Transportation Standard Special
Provisions currently in effect.
New streets shall be extended at intersections as directed by
the Road Commissioner in order to provide a tie into existing
street pavement.
If approved in writing by the Road Commissioner, an alternate
pavement design using Class III Aggregate Base and a thicker
A.C. section mQy be used.

14 Wheelchair ramps shall be constructed at all curb returns, see
Plates R-30 & 31 of the Subdivision Standards.
15. All streets and alley have been designed for a Traffic Index of
4.75, For secondary or major highways the actual thickness of the
pavement section shall be increased with corresponding reduction
of width as directed by the Road Commissioner.
16. All street5 and alley have been designed using a minimum "R" value
of 30. Should further testinG 5how a lower "R" value of the actual
in place material, streets shall be redesigned according to the lower
"R' value, in accordance with Road Commission's policy.
17 Any layer of "R" value material specified in the typical cross-section
may be increased in depth provided that the material below that
layer has no less than the minimum thickness shown.
