HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 193-89RESOLUTION NO. 193-89 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD ENDORSING AND SUPPORTING EFFORTS TO ENCOURAGE THE BOARD OF REGENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA TO CONSIDER KERN COUNTY AS THE SITE FOR A NEW UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA CAMPUS. WHEREAS, the Board of Regents of the University of California have approved the planning process for additional campuses; and WHEREAS, the Central Valley of California is underrepresented in the University of California system; and WHEREAS, Kern County is ideally located within the Central Valley and has ample land available for this purpose; and WHEREAS, the communities of Kern County are supportive of a new University of California campus located in Central California. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Bakersfield endorses and supports efforts to have the Board of Regents of the University of California consider Kern County as the preferred site for a new University of California Campus. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting thereof held on 15 day of November , 1989, by the following roll call vote: CITY CLERK and Ex Officio Clerk of the Council of the City of Bakersfield APPROVED NoveMber 15, 1989 R:RESO13
