A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD AMENDING THE I~ATE SCHEDULE
APPLICABLE TO TOWING SERVICE IN RESPONSE TO
POLICE DISPATCH.
WHEREAS, Section 5.52.170 of the Bakersfield Municipal
Code requires that all charges for towing services in response to
police dispatch shall be made according to a rate schedule adopted
by resolution of the City Council; and
WHEREAS, such rate schedule may be changed, from time to
time, by resolution..
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Bakersfield
hereby resolves and adopts the following amended rate schedule
which shall be applicable to all permitees under Chapter 5.52 of
the Municipal Code of the City of Bakersfield:
RATE SCHEDULE
For the purpose of this rate schedule, the following
definitions shall apply:
1. Light Duty Towing means the towing of any vehicle
or combination of vehicles in tandem, the gross vehicle rating of
which is 10,000 pounds or less.
2. Medium Duty Towing means the towing of any vehicle
or combination of vehicles in tandem, the gross vehicle rating of
which is more than 10,000 pounds up to and including 25,000 pounds.
3. Heav%r Duty Towing means the towing of any vehicle
or combination of vehicles in tandem, the gross vehicle rating of
which is more than 25,000 pounds.
4. Standby Time means the time in excess of fifteen
(15) minutes that a tow truck operator is delayed from performing
their duties at the location where the vehicle is to be loaded and
removed, if the delay is due to circumstances not contributed to
by the negligence, misjudgment, incompetence, or carelessness of
the tow truck operator.
5. Service Call Charge means an extra charge allowed
for opening the business to release vehicles or property on
holidays or at any time other than regular business hours which are
from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
LIGHT DUTY TOWING
All light duty towing within a five-mile radius
Each mile beyond five miles
(refer to Bakersfield City radius map)
Standby time for each 15 minutes after the first 15 minutes
MEDIUM DUTY TOWING
All medium duty towing within a five-mile radius .
Each mile beyond five miles
(refer to BakeIsfield City radius map)
Standby time for each 15 minutes after the first 15 minutes
HEAVY DUTY TOWING
All heavy towing within a five-mile radius (per hour)
SERVICE CHARGES
Inside storage per day
Outside storage per day
Service call charge
Winching per hour ......
Setting overturned vehicle on wheels
Use of dollies (Light Duty Towing Only)
