SECTION 7: MITIGATION~ PREVENTION AND ABATEMENT PLAN A. RELEASE PREVENTION STEPS: Back-up Generator Diesel Storage Tank - our above ground 2,000 gallon diesel tank has a protective 6 inch thick, 400 psi, concrete enclosure. This tank is internally sealed with a liner resistant to methanol based fuels and has a 3 gallon overflow trap for protection during filling. 2. Boilers/Chillers/Cooling Towers - chemicals for these are stored in non-corrosive plastic containers (service hoppers). 3. Gel Batteries - the gel electrolyte of the "Uninte~ Power Supply" (IJPS) battery bank is in 192 indivi&~o!ly sealed cells liniced together. The MSDS states no releases or emissions under normal operation. RELEASE CONTAINMENT AND/OR MINIMIZATION: 1. The diesel storage tank has a below ground spill/leak sump pit to contain a accidental release. The plastic tanks that contain the boiler, chiller, and cooling tower chemicals are protected by eemem brumes surrounding the tanks. These chemicals are pumr~l directly into the plastic service tanks from the vendor's truck There is no employee contact with the chemicals and no surplus storage outside of the service tanks. There is no containment berm around the UPS battery bank as the gel electrolyte does not require one. There is a spill kit located near the UPS batteries and the service tanks of the boiler, chiller, and cooling tower chemicals. C. CLEAN-UP PROCEDURES: Spill kits are located in appropriate areas to handle small spills. These kits include, but are not limited to, absorbem pillows and granular abso~nts, ff a large spill were to occur, the fire depamnent will be notified.
