Cooper, Operations Director Valley Plaza 2701 Ming Avenue Bakersfield, CA 93304 Re: Fire Code Violations at Valley Plaza NOTICE OF VIOLATION AND SCHEDULE FOR COMPLIANCE Dear Mr. Cooper: On November 3, 2003, Bakersfield Fire Department Fire Plans Examiner, Mr. David Weirather, inspected various shops in the Valley Plaza complex. His concentration centered on exit corridors and the accumulation of combustibles. In his inspection of the complex, he found approximately 90% of exit corridors were in non-compliance with fire code requirements to maintain clear exit paths as outlined in the 2001 California Fire Code. The shops inspected were notified that compliance was mandatory and would be re- inspected. The remaining shops must also comply by November 11, 2003 or face additional regulatory action. This is a serious issue that requires your immediate action. Failure to comply will result in additional regulatory action. Please notify all parties concerned. The complex will be re-inspected on November 11th, 2003. If you have any questions, please contact me at 661-326-3979.
