RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD APPROVING THE APPLICATIONS FOR
GRANT FUNDS FOR THE TRAIL GRANT PROGRAM
UNDER THE CALIFORNIA WILDLIFE, COASTAL, AND
PARK LAND CONSERVATION ACT OF 1988 TO RE-
STRIPE AND CHANNELIZE CERTAIN STREETS FOR
CLASS II BICYCLE LANES IN THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD.
WHEREAS, the people of the State of California have
enacted the California Wildlife, Coastal, and Park Land
Conservation Act of 1988, which provides funds to the State of
California and its political subdivisions for acquiring and/or
developing facilities for public recreational and open space
purposes;
and
WHEREAS, the State Department of Parks and Recreation
has been delegated the responsibility for the administration of
the program within the state, setting up necessary procedures
governing application by local agencies under the program;
and
WHEREAS,

the City of Bakersfield wishes to restripe and
streets for Class II bicycle lanes in the City

tify by resolution the approval of application before submis-
sion of said application to the state;

opment of the project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the
City of Bakersfield as follows:
The filing of an application under the Trails Grant Program
under the California Wildlife, Coastal, and Park Land
Conservation Act of 1988 for state grant assistance for the
above project is hereby approved~ and
2. The assurances and certification in the application form are
acceptable; and
3. The City of Bakersfield has or will have sufficient funds to
operate and maintain the project; and
4. The project included in this application is consistent with
the Bakersfield Metropolitan Area General Plan; and
The project included in this application is Categorical
Exempt under Section 15301 Class 1(c) of the California
Environmental Quality Act; and
The City Manager is hereby authorized to conduct all
negotiations and execute all documents with concurrence of
the City Attorney, including, but not limited to
applications, agreements, amendments, payment requests which
may be necessary for the completion of the aforementioned
project.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and
adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 30th day of August , 1989 by the

PROJECT PROPOSAL
PROJECT NAME: Bakersfield Bikeways Street Restriping and
Channelization
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The project is to restripe, channel and sign existing streets
to accommodate Class II bicycle lanes in Bakersfield. The
objective of this project is to 1) implement the Metropolitan
Bakersfield Bikeways Master Plan, and 2) connect and provide
bikeway access to the Class I bike path in the Kern River Parkway.
The project consists of two phases covering 15 miles of streets.
Completion would be within the next two to three years as streets
are resurfaced or redesigned. The requested amount of funding
is $25,000.
