RE: Disposal of Waste Oil to the ground in alley behind 2700 Truxtun Avenue.
Dear Mr. Burrow:
This letter is in reference to a complaint received by this Department on August 13, 1992.
The complaint cites that waste motor oil was disposed onto the ground in the alley behind
2700 Truxtun Avenue.
This notice is to inform you that used motor is a hazardous waste, and it is a violation of the
California Health and Safety Code, Section 25250.5 for waste oil to be disposed of in the
manner described above. As the responsible party for the improper disposal of the waste
oil, you would be responsible for any cleanup that would be required. Enclosed is a list of
local facilities that accept used oil for recycling.
In accordance with Kern County Ordinance Code G-5541, Section 8.04.100, the Department
is authorized to charge for inspections, review of reports, and laboratory service costs
incurred in the process of obtaining compliance with any violations noted. Be advised that
you may be billed at the rate of $80.00 per hour for oversight during abatement of any
violations. Please contact this office within seven (7) days of receipt of this notice to discuss
this matter further.
