I I I i I , I I REMOVAL OF UNDERGROUND FlAMMABLE LI9UID TAN< Any underground tank which has been abandoned for a period 'of one year shall be removed from the ground and the hole properly filled. If circumstances warrant, ,- however, such tank may be abandoned in place and safeguarded in a manner and with material approved by this Department. -1 Procedure for removing underground tanks: ,~ 1) , Remove all flammable or combustible liquid from the tank and from all èonnecting lines. I ¡ I .. .2) Tank is to be freed offla1IDD8ble vapors with dry ice (10 lbs.·öf dry ice for every 1,000 gallons of tank capacity) for 30 minutes or until flammable vapors are no longer excaping from vent pipe. 3) Excavation may begin.
