I
Popular, uncomplicated suction
pumps, for farms, fleets, construc-
tion-business and Industry In
general-and for your personal and
private fueling from vented tanks.
Not for retail.
The pumps described here andillus:,
trated at the right are identical in
most important respects. The pump
assemblies are alike; they differ only in
'piping and hardware' provided for each
particular installation.
, NOfE: Ther'e are major differences
between these and the pumps '
described in the box on the back
page-differences in the register
readout and the set back mechanism.
All 1820's, 1800's and 1850's and their
variations, are competent and reliable,
designed simply for dispensing gaso-
line, diesel, or kerosene from skid tanks
or other vented tanks, aboveground or
underground.
Unique features
These simple Gasboy pumps offer
some unique standard features which
help to make them the best value in
their class. Among these are:
Zero reset integrated with pump~start
linkage - Pumps with three·digit
registers have a linkage that connects
the pump operating handle and the
register set back mechanism so that the
meter is alwayS set back to zero before
the pump can be turned on.
Durable cabinet with decal space -
The design has stood the test of time.
Baked enamel finish - Gasboy red or
any other color you wish, same price-
will look good for years with occasional
waxing.
Large flat areà on the cabinet face -
9V2"(241mm) wide by 5V2" (140mm)
high - is ideal for product decals, jOb-
ber or distributor decals.
Gasboy Quality throughout - Stràight-
forward engineering, honest materials,
and solid craftsmanship-are all inhere
ent in all GASBOY products, contribut·
ing the well known Gasboy reliability
and long product life.

from them confirming my plans to you and Chief Kollenborn last
Friday.
I did not know, at the time of our conversation, that permits
were going to be required. Today we have asked RLW to push on these
permits.
Do not hesitate to call me or Mr. John Paxton of RLW for
further information.
Again my thanks to both of you in working out this situation.

The California State Water Resources Control Board, as well as almost all other states, and

The state requirements for upgrading, monitoring, reporting and etc., coupled with the
EPA's insurance requirements and mandatory Underground Storage Tanks (UST) upgrades
have brought the problem more to the surtace for viewing the above ground alternative. We

ABOVE GROUND FUEL STORAGE SYSTEMS
A Divúwn of Bryarú Tank, Inc.
3300 Niles Street April 23, 1990
Bakersfield, CA 93306 "
When mother earth speaks everybody beÉter listen. Our cnviròn-
ment is demanding that tje take responsibility as well as
notice ôf the plight of our ground water and its pollution.
"Where is all this toxicity coming from?" we might ask. The
EPA as well as the State Water Resources Control Board acknow-
ledge the prob~bility of approxiamtely 2 million leaking
Underground Storage Tanks (USTs) and these tanks are one
of largest contributors to this hazardous waste problem.
Consequently relevant state agencies have requried new improv-
ments and upgrading of current USTs and are currently putting
enforcement programs in place from county'to county. On the
federal level, the EPA has published (Oct'S8) its final
reqµirements for financial responsibllty for owners of under-
ground storage tanksuwhich requires ow.ners to provide .a
minimum of 1 million dollars liability coverage for contam-
iantion óf our land. The unavailability arid shyrocketing cost
of this coverage is andther story in itself, however the EPA
feels this 1 million dollars should get the leak problem
into the minds of fuel distributors and owners across the
nation.
Around the state var~ous agencies, thiough:the District Attorney~t
offices and health departments are beginning to enforce the
environmental laws of our land. As we speak, violat6rs::;,of.Ee
toxic offenses are being arrested and jailed on the spot.
This is not to imply that violators of the UST rules and
regulations will be vacationing at the "gray-bar motel~ however,
the penaltt~f0r non-compliance is $10,000 per day per offense.
The recent and still current water shortage throughout the
state amplifies each and every drop of pollution by a stronger
factor every week. Our water is going away at astonishing:'.y
rates while the pollution content continues to rise and still
owners of underground storage tanks complain about the absurd
cost they're facing to help rectif:Y~··the sitüation and then
there is the mass of owners à:s,king, !!What' s all'the concern
o~er a little leak here or there;~we've been doing this since
theJD.1 s","and every things OK? II
,The present remedies for these leaking USTs are generally,
ari after the fact solution; ie, after a leak has occured~
an alarm may go off, or a day or a week later someone might
notice that, fh~ir inventory is a tad off the mark and begin
spill procedures. In any event, we are facing a band-aid
solQtion to a diagnosis that calls for major surgery.
Three years ago while operating a tank removal business,
Billy Bryant saw this pollution from, literally, the bottom
up and decided something should be offered as an alternative,
since fuèi oil will be with us for a few more years.
