RESOLUTION DETERMINING THAT CERTAIN CITY OF BAKERSFIELD ERICSSON SURPLUS TELEPHONE EQUIPMENT CANNOT BE REASONABLY OBTAINED THROUGH THE USUAL BIDDING PROCEDURES AND AUTHORIZING THE FINANCE DIRECTOR TO DISPENSE WITH BIDDING THERFOR AND PURCHASE THE SURPLUS TELEPHONE EQUIPMENT FROM THE COUNTY OF RIVERSIDE NOT TO EXCEED $200,000. WHEREAS, the County of Riverside recently upgraded their voice mail network and surplused their old voice mail system; and WHEREAS, the County of Riverside's old voice mail system is of the same manufacture and make (Ericsson) as that used by the City; and WHEREAS, the voice mail system hardware in use by the City is no longer manufactured but still maintained and serviced by the manufacturer; and WHEREAS, spare parts for the City's voice mail system are hard to find and costly; and WHEREAS, the City has more than sufficient spare telephone switch cabinets in inventory to meet any future expansion requirements; and WHEREAS, it is necessary to obtain Ericsson telephone equipment because of the need to successfully integrate such work, supplies, equipment or materials into any existing City project or system; and WHEREAS, the Finance Director recommends the Council find said County of Riverside telephone voice mail equipment can only be reasonably obtained from the County of Riverside, recommends that the Council dispense with the bidding, in accordance with subsection D.2 of Section 3.20.060 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows: reference. The above-recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein by 2. The Council hereby finds that the County of Riverside requests to trade two (2) of their surplus voice mail cabinets including all hardware for the two (2) City of Bakersfield's Ericsson telephone switch cabinets including minimum basic hardware. -- Page 1 of 3 Pages -- ORIGINAL 3. The work, supplies, equipment or materials can only be reasonably obtained from one vendor because of the need to successfully integrate such work, supplies, equipment or materials into an existing City project or system. 4.
