A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD APPROVING THE AGREEMENT BY AND
BETWEEN THE CITY AND THE PACIFIC HOUSING &
FINANCE AGENCY, A JOINT POWERS AUTHORITY.
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield seeks to promote home ownership to improve
the City's housing stock and to further economic development for the welfare of its
residents; and
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield has adopted the promotion of home
ownership as one of its priority goals in both the Housing Element of the General Plan
and the Consolidated Plan; and
WHEREAS, there is growing need for the cities to find new and cooperative ways
to develop programs that will increase home ownership and improve community life;
and
WHEREAS, the Pacific Housing & Finance Agency is cooperative approach
between cities that will increase home ownership and thereby improve the quality of
community life for those cities participating in the Authority; and
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield will further its adopted goal of promoting
home ownership within the community through membership n the Pacific Housing &
Finance Agency; and
WHEREAS, the Pacific Housing & Finance Agency provides for home ownership
programs individually tailored for each member city;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, incorporating the above recitals herein,
by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows:
That the participation of the City of Bakersfield in the Pacific Housing &
Finance Agency Lease to Own Program is hereby authorized; and
That the mayor or designee, the city attorney or designee, the economic
development director or designee and the finance director or designee of
the City of Bakersfield are authorized to execute any document required
by the program.
