Box 6096 Bakersfield, CA_ 93386 RE: Plan Check/Review of 500 Gallon Above Ground Diesel Tank to be Located at 13703 Via La Madera. CONDITIONS The physical tank does meet all of the requirements of the Bakersfield Municipal Code and the Uniform Fire Code. Specific requirements relating to the installation of this tank are as follows: 1) The only openings permitted in the tank vault shall be for inspection, filing, dispensing, venting, emergency venting, and they shall be installed through the top only. Antisiphon devices shall be installed on discharge lines. 2) Tank connections shall be so piped or closed that neither vapors or liquid can escape into the enclosed space between the tank and the tank vault. 3) Means shall be provided to ventilate vault to dilute, disperse and remove vapors. 4) Vent pipe provided for normal tank venting shall terminate at least 12 feet above ground level. 5) Permits shall be required for all reinforced concrete such as pad, sides, ends, and top through Building Department. 6) Permits shall be required for all electrical through Building Department. 7) The tank vault shall be protected against accidental dislodgement by use of crash posts minimum six inches in diameter, six feet long, two feet of which shall be below grade and encased in concrete. Be set four feet on center and three feet from vault. (Encasement in concrete shall be minimum of 12 inches wide. Bottom of posts, suspended in concrete minimum of three inches from bottom). o ~~r",.~t.) e e 8) Shall be protected against dislodgement during seismic activity as per Building Code. 9) Any underground fuel lines shall be provided with a leak detection or monitoring device. This monitoring system shall be inspected monthly and records kept on the premises and signed by responsible party. 10) Vault shall have warning and identification label installed to clearly identify the hazards. 11) Vapor recovery approved by air pollution laws., 12) Vaulted tank shall be inspected for vapor and/or liquid leaks every six months. Records kept on premises and signed by responsible party. 13) Maximum life of above ground tanks: 25 years. ·14) Due to the size of the lot available, this tank is unable to meet the set back requirements of 25 feet from the property line and 100 feet from any residential occupancy. As an alternative mitigation, a six foot high blockwall or equivalent, will be required around the tank on three sides. This wall can become the perimeter wall or be an internal wall on the well site property. The one open side will face the driveway and street.
