HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 180-97RESOLUTION NO. ~- 8 0 - 9 '~' A RESOLUTION DETERMINING THAT AUTOMATED REFUSE AND GREENWASTE CARTS FOR EXPANSION OF THE ClTY'S COLLECTION PROGRAM CANNOT REASONABLY BE OBTAINED THROUGH USUAL BIDDING PROCEDURES AND AUTHORIZING THE FINANCE DIRECTOR TO DISPENSE WITH BIDDING THEREFOR, NOT TO EXCEED $559,200, AND TO PURCHASE THE CARTS. WHEREAS, City has previously purchased over 66,000 automated refuse and greenwaste carts for its collection program from Toter Inc.; and WHEREAS, the City completed implementation of its automation program utilizing said carts; and WHEREAS, City approved Agreement No. 96-63 in March 1996 with Kern Refuse Disposal, Inc. (Hauling Contractor) to phase in automated residential refuse and greenwaste service; and WHEREAS, Agreement No. 96-63 provides that the City will furnish necessary greenwaste carts for the program to be implemented in areas served by Hauling Contractor; and WHEREAS, new homes in areas contiguous to those currently receiving automated refuse and greenwaste services require additional carts of similar design, color, and specifications; and WHEREAS, the Finance Director has determined and has recommended that this Council find, that said carts can only reasonably be obtained from one vendor because of the compatibility with existing equipment and has recommended that this Council authorize dispensing with bidding therefor in accordance with Subsection D. 1 of Section 3.20.060 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows: reference. The above recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein by 2. Said carts can only be reasonably obtained from one vendor because of compatibility of said carts and the need to successfully integrate this into the existing City system.
