A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BAKERSFIELD ESTABLISHING SITE CONTROL
AND CLEANUP AUTHORITY FOR HAZARDOUS
MATERIAL SPILLS.
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield has determined there is
a need to establish clear responsibility for scene management
of hazardous material. spills and clear responsibility for calling
in contractors authorized to conduct site cleanups of hazardous
materials;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the
City of Bakersfield as follows:
1. The Bakersfield Fire Department shall have
exclusive responsibility for scene management at sites of
hazardous materials spills, leaks, or other instances of
response to hazardous material problems where the public may
be exposed to potential harm;
2. Officers of the Bakersfield Fire Department holding
rank of Battalion Chief or above shall have authority to call in
contractors authorized to conduct site cleanup of hazardous mate-
rial spills, leaks, or other instances of response to hazardous
material problems where the public may be exposed to potential
harm.
