RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BAKERSFIELD ENCOURAGING AND
FACILITATING THE ENHANCEMENT OF
INTERGOVERNMENTAL RELATIONS BETWEEN
THE CITY 'OF BAKERSFIELD AND THE COUNTY OF KERN.
WHEREAS, the City ,Df Bakersfield has an abiding interest in and
concern for the welfare of the citizens of Bakersfield and also for the
welfare of the other citizens in the County of Kern, and
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield is dedicated to the provision of
quality services to citizens in an efficient and effective manner which
reduces duplication of services of City/County efforts, and
WHEREAS, the City .of Bakersfield and County of Kern jointly represent
the same citizens within the City of Bakersfield, and
WHEREAS, the City desires to communicate openly and proactively
with the County through coordinated activities which affect both entities,
and
WHEREAS, it is critical that both agencies provide joint planning
efforts in the urban area, and
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield is the hub of the County of Kern as
well as the financial center and population center for the County of Kern.
WHEREAS, the citizens we serve can best be served by cooperative
City/County governments.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
Bakersfield as follows:
The City Council does whole heartedly and without reservation
encourage and facilitate positive City/County relations through
formal cooperative efforts such as the City/County Intergovernmental
Relations Committee and through informal City/County visits, meetings,
activities. Further, the City Council is dedicated to encouraging and
facilitating City/County relationships.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and
adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting
thereof held on October 21, 1987 , by the following
vote:
