RESOLUTION NO. 197-87
A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD ORDERING THE ABANDONMENT OF "K"
STREET BETWEEN 17TH AND 18TH STREETS IN THE
CITY OF BAKERSFIELD.
WHEREAS, on September 23, 1987, the Council of the City
of Bakersfield, pursuant to the provisions of the "Public Streets,
Highways and Service Easements Vacation Law," being Chapter 3 of
Part 3 of Division 9 of the Streets and Highways Code of the State
of California, passed and adopted its Resolution of Intention No.
1031 declaring its intention to order the abandonment of "K" Street
between 17th and 18th Street in the City of Bakersfield, County of
Kern, State of California; and
WHEREAS, said Council did fix a time and place for hear-
ing all persons interested in or objecting to said proposed aban-
donment, which said! hearing was held on October 21, 1987, after
notices were duly published and posted as required by law; and
WHEREAS, this Council after duly considering the matter,
does hereby find and resolve as follows:
1. That "K" Street between 17th and 18th Streets in the
City of Bakersfield, County of Kern, State of California, more
particularly described in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and made a
part hereof, is unnecessary for present or prospective public
street purposes.
2. That said "K" Street between 17th and 18th Streets,
in the City of Bakersfield, County of Kern, State of California,
be and the same is hereby closed up, vacated and abandoned for
public street purposes, subject to and in conformity with the fol-
lowing reservations and exceptions:
a)
A twenty-five (25) foot public vehicular
access easement, bordered by attractive
landscaping, along "K" Street between
17th and 18th Street, to be maintained
by the adjacent property owners, shall be
retained by the City of Bakersfield upon
vacation, and a deed restriction reflect-
ing said easement shall be recorded;
b)
Public utility easements as described in
Exhibit "A";
and
3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage of
this Resolution and shall cause a certified copy hereof, attested
by the Clerk under the seal of the City, to be recorded in the
office of the County Recorder of the County of Kern, California.

EXHIBIT "A"
All of that portion of "K" Street (Being 82.5 feet wide) bounded on the
South by the Easterly prolongation of the South line of Block 273
(also being the North line of 17th Street) and bounded on the North by
the Easterly prolongation of the North line of said Block 273 (also
being the South lir~ of 18th Street) as said streets and Blocks are
shown on "MAP OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD" filed November 25, 1898 in
Book 1 of Maps, Pages 13 and 14, in the Office of the Kern County
Recorder.
EXCEPTING THEREFROM, an easement for public vehicular access purposes
and also for public utilities purposes that portion of the above
described parcel k~.~ing a 25 foot wide strip situated 12.5 feet on
either side of the center line of "K" Street between the North line of
17th Street and the South line of 18th Street and a 33 foot wide strip
extending from the East line of said Block 373 to the center line of
"K" Street bounded on the North and South by the Easterly prolongation
of North and South lines of the alley in said Block 273.
~%LSO EXCEPTING THEREFROM, an easement for public utilities purposes,
that portion of the first described parcel, being a 20 foot wide strip
extending from the west line of Block 272 to the center line of "K"
Street and situated 10 feet on either side of the Westerly prolonga-
tion of the center line of the alley in Block 272.
