HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 195-87RESOLUTION NO. 195-87 RESOLUIION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD DONATING SURPLUS POLICE EQUIPMENT TO THE KERN COUNTY SEARCH AND RESCUE. WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield has several worn-out police lightbar units awaiting disposition; and WH£R£AS, the units are equipped for oolice use and cannot be readily or economically converted to other uses; and WHEREAS, in the past such units have been "cannibalized" for serviceable parts to support the rest of the fleet; and WHEREAS, this type of lightbar is being phased out of use with a few remaining in service for which adequate spare parts are on hand; and WHEREAS, it has been City practice to not sell at public auction police lightbar or siren units which could be misused by those who would illegally impersonate police officers for nefarious purposes; and WHEREAS, the Kern County Search and Rescue has requested the donation of several surplus lightbars for Search and Rescue use; and WHEREAS, the Kern County Search and Rescue is a voluntary organization, whose members invest substantial amounts of time and labor to render a valuable and much appreciated service to the community. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD: four (4) surplus lightbar units are authorized to be given to Kern County in support of Search and Rescue operations. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resoulution was passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting thereof held on September 30, 1987 , by the following vote: AYES COUNCILMEMBERS: CHILDS, CHRISTENSEN, SMITH, RATTY, MOORE, DICKERSO~,'SALVAGGIO NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: ABSENT: COUNCILMEMbERS ABSTAINING: COUNCILMEMBERS: CITY CLERK and Ex Officio Clerk of the Council of the City of Bakersfield APPROVED September 30, 1987 MAYOR of the City of Bakersfield APPROVED as to form: CITY ATTORNE~Kof the City of Bakersfield
