RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD
URGING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TO
ADOPT AN ENABLING ORDINANCE TO IMPLEMENT
THE PROVISIONS OF A.B. 711
WHEREAS, Assembly Bill (A.B. 711) has been adopted by the
State Legislature and signed by the Governor; and
WHEREAS, A.B.
authority to implement
adult magazines; and
711 grants to local jurisdictions the
local ordinances to control the display of
WHEREAS, A.B. 711 will become effective January 1, 1988;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield intends to adopt a con-
trolling ordinance to be effective January 1, 1988; and
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield believes it to be in the
best interest that the County implement the provisions of A.B. 711
for the entire metropolitan area
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD DOES HEREBY RESOLVE:
That the Council requests and encourages the Kern County
Board of Supervisors to adopt a County Ordinance for enforcement
in the unincorporated areas of Kern County that controls the dis-
play of adult magazines as authorized by A.B. 711.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at
regular meeting thereof held on September 30, 1987, by
