A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD IN SUPPORT OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT
AND CALIFORNIA TRIAL LAWYERS ASSOCIATION
COMPROMISE.
WHEREAS, an agreement was reached between the County
Supervisors Association of California, the League of California
Cities, and California Trial Lawyers Association addressing lia-
bility issues affecting the cities and counties; and
WHEREAS, the legislature has passed the bills to imple-
ment the aforementioned agreement; and
WHEREAS, the bills commence the initial phase of necessary
tort reform in the State of California; and
WHEREAS, the bills provide some financial stability to
local public agencies with respect to uncontrolled liability.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the
City of Bakersfield:
1. Supports the adoption of the bills passed by
the California Legislature pursuant to the agreement between the
County Supervisors Association of California, the League of
California Cities and the California Trial Lawyers Association;
and
2. Urges additional tort reform to provide appropriate
protection to organizations aad private businesses within the
State of California.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a
