A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD
APPROVING A DESIGN CONCEPT AND PROVIDING FUNDING FOR
WIDENING THE MING AVENUE AT STATE HIGRWAY 99 OVERCROSSING.
WHEREAS, on the 17th day of June, 1987, the Council of the City of
Bakersfield adopted the 1987-88 Capital Improvement Budget allocating funds for
widening the Ming Avenue at State Highway 99 Overcrossing; and
WMEREAS, Ming Avenue has been widened to three lanes of traffic in each
direction on both sides of the structure and presently a traffic bottleneck exits
at the bridge; and
WHEREAS, the State of California has stated in their Project Study
Report, 6-Ker-99 22.6, dated the 8th day of June, 1987, that under current State
policies, the City must fund design, construction, construction inspection and
State monitoring of the project.
NOW, TREREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Bakersfield, State of California, as follows:
1. The foregoing recitals are true and correct and the City Council
so finds and determines.
2. It is the intention of the City Council of the City of Bakersfield
to enter into a cooperative agreement with the State of California, with the City
providing funding for design, construction and inspection engineering.
3. The City Council hereby approves the design concept and
authorizes funding for widening the Ming Avenue Overcrossing at State Highway 99
as described in Exhibit "A".
