HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 163-87RESOLUTION NO. 163-87 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD GIVING POLICE EQUIPMENT TO THE CITY OF TAFT. WHEREAS, thE! City of Bakersfield has several worn-out police lightbar units awaiting disposition; and WHEREAS, the units are equipped for police use and cannot be readily or economically converted to other uses; and WHEREAS, in the past such units have been "cannibalized" for serviceable parts to support the rest of the fleet; and WHEREAS, this type of lightbar is being phased out of use with a few remaining in service for which adequate spare parts are on hand; and WHEREAS, it has been City practice to not sell at public auction police lightbar or siren units which could be misused by those who would illegally impersonate police officers for nefarious purposes; and WHEREAS, the City of Taft Police department has requested the donation of several surplus police-type lightbar units for police use. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD: four (4) surplus lightbar units are authorized to be given to the City of Taft for police use.
