A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BAKERSFIELD DETERMINING THAT CERTAIN
EQUIPMENT CAN BE REASONABLY OBTAINED ONLY
THROUGH ONE SOURCE AND AUTHORIZING THE
FINANCE DIRECTOR TO DISPENSE WITH BIDDING.
WHEREAS,
the City Attorney
Attorney's Office
and
on February 11, 1987 the City Council authorized
to upgrade the telephone system in the City
pursuant to Personnel Committee Report No. 2-87;
WHEREAS, in order to implement the directions of the
City Council, it is necessary that the City purchase telephone
equipment for the new telephone system; and
WHEREAS, AT&T provides a system that is compatible with
the existing hardware; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has previously authorized a
transfer of $41,800 from the General Fund contingency to fund the
recommendations of Personnel Committee Report No. 2-87; and
WHEREAS, it is recommended that the City Council dispense
with formal bidding for such telephone items in accordance with
Section 3.2.060 B of the Bakersfield Municipal Code.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council hereby finds that. telephone
equipment necessary for the upgrading of the telephone system in
the City Attorney's Office be reasonably obtained from only one
source, AT&T and authorizes the Finance Director to dispense with
bidding therefor and to negotiate the purchase of same from such
source.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regu-
lar meeting thereof ineld on Jul~ 29, 1987
